Weathering the storm(s)

Hurricane Irene is blowing through.  So far we've had lots of rain, some pretty good winds and flickering lights.  My father in law is without power just two miles away though...Hopefully this is as bad as we'll get it.  I'm not sure, I haven't been watching the news at all.  I have been nursing a sick family for over a week!  I thought I had already gotten sick with the rest of the family--but then I had a fever last night.  I do feel much better today, no fever just a bit of a cough & sore throat.  Again HOPEFULLY as bad as it gets.

I saw a challenge on OWH's blog and decided to give it a try.
I have never done a challenge before, but I think I got the hang of it.  This is what emerged:
I scanned this because my camera battery is dead.  I am not sure I love it.  For some reason I missed the line in the challenge that said this would be great for a large image until after I finished it.  I think that's what bugs me about this card--there's no real focal point.  I originally had a raffia bow, but the tan of the raffia and the cream of the background clashed.  I found this organza ribbon in some old fall decorations I have.  I don't think it comes through on the photo, but it has an orange sheen to it, too.  The background leaf paper is the flip-side of the sentiment paper which is by Moxie: Fall Frolic/Scarecrow.  I used a Wordsworth stamp & EK Success acorn punch.

I LOVE FALL!!!  And my shipper needs some general fall cards, so I'm going to crank out as many as I can in the next 3 days.  I'd love any feedback on how this can be better.  Thanks for stopping by!!

You're way too critical of your card! It's lovely! It's a perfect fall "any reason" card. You should make some more just like it!

Such a pretty card and perfect for Fall!

I'm like you in that I tend to be a bit hard on myself, but I guess it's because sometimes I just expect something else?

I think your card is very nice! Hoping you were not hit hard by the storm...we lucked out and Irene was pretty much a bust for us. I'm glad though..no damage, no power loss and the rain is already all over! :)

PS: Did you know that you have Word Verification turned on? The only reason I mention, is that it doesn't like me and I get the word wrong too much! It frustrates me!!

:( I turned my off and now just monitor my comments -- easier!! :)

You did a wonderful job for your first challenge, and I don't think this card needs anything! The falling leaves spell autumn loud and clear and I get the message! Very well done, and I look forward to seeing more of your creations!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and sweet comments on my blog! You really know how to make a person feel blessed! I'm glad you came through the hurricane without too much damage as well. {hugs}
